XP Professional reserves the 20% of available bandwidth , to run special applications. Retention is produced by the packet scheduler called QoS (Quality of Service - Quality of Service), responsible for local network optimization.
For private users, who have PC at home, QoS is not a necessary function, but quite the opposite. Windows XP Pro reserves 20% of the bandwidth if the user cancels the QoS feature, Windows XP users have the ability to set the percentage of bandwidth that QoS must book by following these steps:
Home> Run and type gpedit.msc and press Enter . Displays the Group Policy editor on the left. Computer Configuration> Administrative Templates> Network in the right window click on QoS Packet Scheduler and then the reserved bandwidth limit. In the settings tab select Enabled . In the drop-down limit of bandwidth 0 writes. We accept and we'll be taking advantage of all our bandwidth.
